Subclass 309 – Partner (Provisional) Visa
This is a provisional visa that allows the Cape Verdean partner of an Australian citizen or permanent resident to live in Australia while they wait for a decision on their permanent partner visa. The partner must be outside of Australia (either in Cabo Verde or elsewhere) when they apply for this visa, but can enter Australia as soon as the visa is granted. Once in Australia, the Cape Verdean applicant will have to apply for a permanent visa (subclass 100 or subclass 801) once they are eligible.
